We collect information that you provide directly to us when you use the PlantCare app:
- Photos & Images: Photos of plants you upload for identification, disease diagnosis, or to add to your Growth Journal.
- Account Information: Creating an account is required to use PlantCare. When you sign in (e.g., via Apple Sign-In), we collect basic profile information such as your name and email address to create and manage your account and securely sync your data across devices.
- Device Information: We may collect device identifiers to ensure app stability and to facilitate data syncing in conjunction with your registered account.
2. Camera & Photo Library Access
PlantCare requires access to your device's camera and photo library. This access is used solely for:
- Identifying plant species via our AI engine.
- Diagnosing plant diseases and health issues.
- Allowing you to save visual records in your personal Growth Journal.
Your photos are processed securely. We do not use your personal plant photos for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
3. Location Data
If you grant us permission, we collect your approximate location data. This is used exclusively to provide accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts which power our Dynamic Care Engine (adjusting watering and fertilizing schedules based on your local climate). We do not track your precise movements or share your location with advertisers.
4. Third-Party AI Services
To provide industry-leading plant identification, we utilize third-party Artificial Intelligence services (such as Google Generative AI). When you snap a photo for identification, the image is sent to these services. The data sent is anonymized and stripped of any personally identifiable metadata (EXIF data) before processing.
5. Data Storage, Security, and Deletion
Your data is stored securely on our cloud servers (hosted via trusted providers like Tencent Cloud COS and standard SQL databases). We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information.
Your Right to Delete: You have full control over your data. You can request the complete deletion of your account, all associated plants, tasks, and photos at any time directly within the app by navigating to Settings > Delete Account.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
